Product Introduction & Supply Chain Strategy
The Emerson PACSystems RX3i IC695CPU315 is a high-speed 1 GHz single-slot central processor designed for complex process control, high-density discrete manufacturing, and motion control applications. Built on the PACSystems control engine, it supports real-time execution across 20 MB of battery-backed memory, providing seamless operation over both modern RX3i PCI backplane cards and legacy Series 90-30 I/O modules.
Securing the IC695CPU315 as New Surplus provides critical risk mitigation for manufacturing plants and utilities operating PACSystems RX3i control networks. Sourcing uninstalled, factory-fresh original inventory eliminates the risks of memory retention faults, internal processor thermal degradation, and backplane bus instability inherent in second-hand or repaired processorsāpreserving plant productivity without requiring expensive control system overhauls.

Installation & Configuration Guide
Stage 1: Pre-Installation (Prep & Safety)
- Execute Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures on the power supply feeding the RX3i universal baseplate.
- Put on an anti-static grounded wrist strap to protect internal processor ICs and memory modules from ESD damage.
- Install a fresh lithium RAM backup battery (IC698ACC701) into the front compartment to safeguard user program retention.
Stage 2: Removal
- De-energize the main rack power supply.
- Disconnect serial cables plugged into COM1 (RS-232) or COM2 (RS-485) on the front panel.
- Squeeze the top and bottom release levers on the CPU housing and pull the module straight forward out of Slot 1 or 2 of the baseplate.
Stage 3: Installation (Seat & Wire)
- Align the rear card edge of the replacement IC695CPU315 with the guide rails in Slot 1 or 2 of the RX3i Universal Baseplate (IC695CHS007/012/016).
- Press firmly on the top and bottom face of the module until both retaining latches click locked into the baseplate frame.
- Plug serial communication cables into COM1/COM2 and secure the retaining screws.
Stage 4: Power-On & Testing
- Reapply power to the baseplate rack power supply.
- Verify that the “CPU OK” and “RUN” LED indicators light solid green.
- Connect using PACSystems Machine Edition (PME) over serial or Ethernet (via CPU-associated ETM001 module) to download software configuration, verify memory status, and check fault tables.
Firmware/Software Versions & Upgrade Notes
- Software Configuration: Configured using PACSystems Machine Edition (PME) v5.50 or higher.
- Firmware Updates: Supports field firmware flash updates via the serial port or via Ethernet when paired with an IC695ETM001 module.
- Slot Restrictions: The IC695CPU315 must be installed in Slot 1 or Slot 2 of an RX3i Universal Baseplate. It cannot be installed in an Expansion Baseplate.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is this IC695CPU315 processor brand new or pulled from a used system?
This product is a Brand New Surplus unit. It is not used, not pulled from a decommissioned cabinet, and not refurbished. All CPUs undergo complete diagnostic and memory testing to verify original OEM performance.
What is the main difference between the and the IC695CPU310?
The features a faster 1 GHz processor with 20 MB of user memory, whereas the IC695CPU310 features a 300 MHz processor with 10 MB of user memory. The CPU315 offers significantly faster sweep times for large programs and complex math instructions.
Does the have an embedded Ethernet port?
No. The features two built-in serial ports (RS-232 and RS-485). For Ethernet communications (PROFINET, Modbus TCP, SRTP), you must add an Ethernet Interface Module such as the IC695ETM001 or IC695PNC001 to the rack.
What battery is required for program memory retention?
The uses the IC698ACC701 smart lithium battery pack (or IC693ACC302) to retain user RAM during main rack power outages.
Can the control legacy Series 90-30 I/O modules?
Yes. The PACSystems RX3i universal baseplate features a dual backplane design that allows the to communicate directly with both RX3i PCI modules and legacy Series 90-30 serial modules in the same rack or connected expansion racks.
What warranty coverage is included with this New Surplus CPU?
This CPU module includes a full 1-year functional warranty. If any operational defect or hardware failure occurs during normal use within 12 months, we will immediately supply a replacement unit from our active buffer inventory.
