Product Introduction

The Honeywell CC-PAIX02 is the no-HART version of the Series-C high-level analog input module, built for the Experion PKS C300 platform. It reads 16 channels of standard 4-20 mA or low-voltage transmitter signals — 12 single-ended, or 4 differential when paired with the CC-TAID01/11 IOTA.

Field power comes from the IOTA itself, current-limited for Class 1 Div 2 non-incendive service with no external marshalling or in-line fusing needed. It’s the direct swap when a loop doesn’t need HART variables — CC-PAIH02 handles that use case instead.

Troubleshooting Quick Reference

Symptom Possible Cause Relevance to This Part Quick Check Method Recommendation
No status LED on IOM IOTA/rack power loss ❌ Low Measure 24 VDC bus at IOTA power terminals Check power supply/fuses before replacing the IOM
Single channel reads open/out of range Broken field wiring or dead transmitter ❌ Low Measure loop current/voltage directly at the IOTA terminal Fix field wiring first — module rarely faults on one channel alone
All 16 channels flatline together IOM electronics fault ✅ High Check module diagnostic status in Control Builder Usually requires IOM replacement
Differential channels (13–16) read wrong or shorted IOTA jumper not cut for differential mode ✅ Medium Inspect the 250 Ω load-resistor jumper on CC-TAID IOTA Cut jumper per wiring diagram — not a module defect
Reading drifts slightly with temperature Normal thermal drift within spec ❌ Low Compare against accuracy spec (±0.15% FS, 0–60°C) No action if within tolerance; recalibrate loop instrument if not
Redundant pair won’t switch over cleanly IOTA redundancy wiring or partner IOM fault ✅ Medium Check both IOMs’ status LEDs and switchover logs Verify IOTA seating before condemning either IOM

If the issue persists after ruling out field wiring and power, send the diagnostic buffer readout and a photo of the IOTA jumper configuration to support for faster root-cause turnaround.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is the CC-PAIX02 hot-swappable?
No. De-energize the IOTA slot before pulling or inserting the IOM. Live insertion isn’t rated on this platform and risks a momentary backplane short.

Does this module support HART?
No — that’s the whole point of the “X” designation. If you need HART variables (status, secondary/tertiary process values), you want CC-PAIH01/02 instead. Wiring is compatible, but you’ll lose HART data with this part.

Can I run differential inputs on this module?
Yes, on channels 13–16, but only with the CC-TAID01 (non-redundant) or CC-TAID11 (redundant) IOTA. You’ll need to cut the on-board 250 Ω load-resistor jumper for those channels to enable differential mode — check the wiring diagram, don’t do it from memory.

Will swapping this module wipe my configuration?
No. Channel range, tag, and scaling live in the Experion Control Builder database, not on the IOM. The controller re-downloads configuration to the new module automatically.

Is this a direct replacement for CC-PAIX01?
Functionally yes on the core spec sheet — same channel count, same IOTAs, same accuracy class. Always cross-check your specific configuration (differential channel use, redundancy) against the current Honeywell function matrix before ordering, since minor revision differences exist between the 01 and 02 variants.

Why is this priced below a factory-direct quote?
This is a New Surplus/New Original unit — factory-sealed, serial-verified, never field-installed — sourced outside Honeywell’s direct channel. You avoid the OEM markup and lead time; in exchange you get our test report and warranty terms instead of a factory warranty.

What testing happens before this ships?
Power-on self-test, I/O Link communication handshake, full 16-channel input simulation (voltage and current ranges), and insulation resistance testing. Test photos/videos available on request.
