Product Introduction & Supply Chain Strategy

The Reliance Electric DDS-LPS is the dedicated Logic Power Supply board for the Reliance DDS drive chassis. It converts incoming AC power into stable, noise-filtered low-voltage DC power required by the drive’s central processing unit, firing circuits, and diagnostic control buses.

Because Reliance Electric DDS drives are legacy components with high risk of obsolescence, securing this module as New Surplus is a critical risk-mitigation strategy. Substituting with a refurbished power board introduces hidden risks like aged electrolytic capacitors or degraded solder joints that can fail under thermal stress. Investing in a verified New Surplus DDS-LPS preserves your drive chassis integrity, lowers Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and prevents catastrophic production stoppages.

Installation & Configuration Guide

1.Stage 1: Pre-Installation & Safety Verification:Prerequisite.

Perform Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) on the main incoming power feed to the drive cabinet. Allow at least 10 minutes for internal DC bus capacitors to fully discharge. Verify zero voltage across power terminals using a multimeter. Attach an ESD wrist strap.

2.Stage 2: Module Extraction:Removal.

Disconnect external wiring harnesses and ribbon cables from the front face of the DDS-LPS module, taking photos of connector locations. Loosen the top and bottom retaining screws on the front panel and pull the card straight out along its guide rails to avoid damaging backplane pins.

3.Stage 3: Jumper Backup & Card Installation:Configuration & Seating.

Inspect the new DDS-LPS board to ensure all configuration jumpers (such as input voltage selection) match the original unit exactly. Slide the module into the card slot, push firmly until the backplane connector seats completely, and hand-tighten the retaining screws.

4.Stage 4: Power-On & Diagnostic Check:Power-On Test.

Reattach all cable connectors. Re-energize the drive control circuit and observe the front-panel status LEDs. Confirm the ‘Power OK’ or logic rail LED displays steady green with no fault indicators on the main drive controller.

Firmware/Software Versions & Upgrade Notes

  • Hardware Compatibility: Designed specifically for Reliance DDS drive chassis. Verify backplane connector pinout alignment prior to insertion.
  • Input Voltage Jumpers: Always double-check input selector jumpers on the board before applying power. Supplying 230 VAC to a card jumpered for 115 VAC will cause immediate power supply component failure.
  • No Software Required: The DDS-LPS is a hardware power module and does not require firmware loading or software parameter setup; power rail stabilization is fully autonomous.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Is this Reliance DDS-LPS board brand new, or pulled from an old panel?

A: This product is 100% Brand New Surplus. It is not used, has never been installed in an active factory environment, and has zero wear on its edge connectors. All boards undergo quality verification before shipment.

Q: Why choose New Surplus over a cheaper refurbished power supply board?

A: Power supply circuits contain electrolytic capacitors and power semiconductors that age even when idling. Refurbished boards often retain tired components near the end of their operational lifespan, risking sudden failure. New Surplus delivers genuine OEM reliability and 10–15 years of expected service life.

Q: What are the main signs that my current DDS-LPS module is failing?

A: Common symptoms include intermittent logic bus faults, unexplainable drive reset loops, dark LED indicators, or erratic processor behavior caused by voltage ripple on the control rail.

Q: Can I hot-swap the DDS-LPS while the drive is powered up?

A: No. You must never insert or remove the DDS-LPS board while power is applied to the drive rack. Hot-swapping will damage the backplane connectors and potentially destroy adjacent processing cards due to voltage spikes.

Q: What warranty coverage comes with this module?

A: We provide a full 1-year replacement warranty on all New Surplus Reliance modules, backed by direct replacement from our warehouse inventory if testing reveals any operational defect.
